Still Working !

I am please to announce that my attempt to write my own pattern is going rather well so far. Of course I have taken alot of breaks to give my hands some rest but I think I have made alot of progress since I first started.
As of today, I am doing some research on working from home. I know alot of people don't believe in this but I find it necessary for me. I am not looking for some get rich quick scheme or home business, just something I can do in my spare time.
I really would like to make money crocheting but I have found out that many people don't realize the time it takes to make a handmade piece therefore they don't want to pay the asking price.
Well I am off to get back to work. Have a great day and as always.....Happy Crocheting !

Trying to write a pattern !

I have been busy today working on designing and writing my own pattern.I have been so busy that I seem to have given myself a nice headache.
The new design I am working on is something I have thought about trying once before but never got up the nerve to try it. It really isn't hard, just time consuming.I will be working on it the next couple of days and we will just have to see what becomes of it once it is finished. I also plan on making another one for my best friends' daughters' house warming gift. Taking it one day at a time I will get it finished. Until next time...Happy Crocheting !

First Day of school !

Today is the first day of school here. My day started at 5:30 a.m. I pulled myself out of bed to fix my husband some breakfast before he left for work before getting the kids up and ready for school. Getting them up was very easy because they woke up all smiles and ready for their first day of school.
After I got everyone off to their destinations , I returned home to my hot cup of coffee and my to do list. I completed all of my chores for today by 11 a.m. , I ate lunch and then layed down for a much needed nap.
You will notice I have a new gold button on the right side. That button is for the Crochet Games I participated in. I was able to finsh my projects in the alotted time slot. I had planned on making some place mats for my best friends' daughter for her house warming gift but I was notified to come up with something else so it is back to the drawing board .Well, have to run so I can prepare to finish off my day. Until next time....Happy Crocheting!

The day before school starts !

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday but we spent all day getting the girls ready for their first day of school. School starts tomorrow here and I didn't want to wait until the last minute to get them ready.
As for my birthday, I had a very nice day. I sat around and actually did nothing, well I did cook dinner but I didn't mind because my husband cooked breakfast for me that morning.
I have a crochet project lined up but haven't started on it yet. I hope to start working on it either today or tomorrow. It is a house warming gift for my best friends daughter who just moved into her on place.
Well...I have to get going so I can get my day started until next time.....Happy Crocheting!

Afghan Complete !

Yippee ! The afghan I have been working on is finally complete.
I have already found a nice home for it. My best friend says she likes it and would like to have it. I just have to decide if I am going to give it to her now or wait until Christmas. I am already thinking about what I can make next.Well I am off to make the fringes and will be back in a bit.
The picture above is the final project with fringes and all ends woven in. This was a personal challenge for me because (1) it usually takes me longer than a few weeks to complete a throw or afghan and (2) I do not like weaving in ends and with this pattern, you had to change colors every row so that meant I had alot of ends to weave in 202 to be exact. None the less I am glad I was able to accomplish my goal.
Until next time ..Happy Crocheting !

Update on Afghan

I didn't get to post yesterday because I was feeling a bit under the weather .I am feeling much better today and am busy working on my afghan. My birthday is Saturday so I hope to be done with it by Friday night.
I stopped to count my completed rows on my afghan and so far I have 86 rows and the pattern calls for 101 rows. I did seem to put a dent in my yarn stash working on this project. I really must learn how to only buy pretty colors and colors that I actually plan to use. I can't wait to go out and buy more yarn though !
We got some more rain today and it looks like it may rain some more later on.
I am going to return to my afghan now and as soon as I am done with it I will try to post a picture.Until tomorrow.....Happy Crocheting!

Another rainy day !

We central Texans are welcoming some more much needed rain today! Although it did not rain all day today,it did rain off and on and we are expecting another round to come in shortly. I love the rain because with this Texas heat it cools things off a bit. When it wasn't raining today, I sat outside and enjoyed the nice cool weather.
Today I also had my doctors appointment. I am 8 months pregnant and our baby is due Sept. 27,2008. My appointment went well although I have to have another ultrasound to check the baby's growth because the doctors says the baby is small, only about 3 lbs. I hope everything will come out well.
As for the afghan I am working on , I have made some progress on it and am trying to finish it tonight. I will have to wait until it gets dry here so that I can take a decent picture of it to post. With it being a raining night that may not be hard to accomplish. So I am off to finish crocheting with my cup of hot coffee.
Until next time .....Happy Crocheting!

Crochet Greek Games...Afghan

This is a picture of both sides.
This is another picture of the right side.

This is the afghan I am working on for the crochet greek games. The colors are off white, black, maroon, red, and brown. In the pictures I have completed 36 rows and the pattern consist of 101 rows. The idea is to use up the colors of yarn that I do have .....so that I can go out and buy more. The pattern comes out of Vanna White's 3 ring binder collection. To my knowledge the collection was stopped a long time ago but you may still be able to find this pattern on the net.The pattern is called Pastel Bands Afghan it is in the for baby section, card #4.

Crocheting For A Cause....

I belong to a crochet forum.. http://www.crochetville.org/ and I was browsing around today and ran across a way to use up my leftover yarn and support a great cause.
I invite you all to check out :
http://thiseclecticlife.com/2007/09/...ways-than-one/

I am going to crochet some squares while:
1) Watching t.v
2) Talking on the phone
3) just sitting on the couch or
4) anytime I have avaliable
and then I will follow the guidlines posted for the squares and send them to the person that is in charge of this project.
From there she will put all the squares together that she has collected into a beautiful afghan (with help from other volunteers of course)and send it to a child with cancer.

Now how easy does that sound? This is my first project ever of this type so I will post my progess as I go along.

Please visit the links above and join in the fun.

Ripple Afghan

I have been busy working on multiple projects at one time since my last post. I really must learn to finish one project before I start another one. I have several projects that I will be posting here once they are completely finished. The photo here is of a ripple afghan I made a couple of months ago ,lying across my queen sized bed, and I finally finished sewing in the loose ends.
There are two things I learned while working on this afghan, (1) I learned the hard way why they say always buy enough yarn to finish a project. I started out with some burgundy yarn I already had and then I ran out so I went and bought some more burgundy , although it was the same color and lot number, it was a lighter shade than what I started out with. (2) It is much easier to weave in the loose ends as you go than to save it all for last...well it is for me.

Now that I finally have it finished all i have left to do is measure it so that I can put it up for bid online. I hope the buyer enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.
You can now bid on this afghan on
ebay. Happy bidding !

Dora afghan complete !

And here is the final product. Now, I must admit, when I started making it,I didn't have any plans on it coming out like a bedspread. Although, it was a nice surprise. In this project I used both crochet and knitting stitches. My 7 year old won't go to sleep without it !
