Busy,Busy,Busy!

Since my last post, I started a new job. With a newborn baby, 2 school aged girls, a husband and a job, I stay busy these days but I always find time to pick up my crochet hook and yarn for a little while.
I finally finished my original design I was working on. All I have left to do is write the final copy and put it on the computer.I am currently working on A Cable Afghan
crochet, of course, for my best friend for Christmas. I will post pictures of it after the holidays.Going through all of my pictures I also found some pictures of thing I have made that I will be posting as well.

Well back to work I go, crocheting and housework. So until next time
Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

Laugh of the day !

I recieved this in my email today and I couldn't resist posting it on my blog for others to get a good laugh out of it.Don't we all wish,if we had to go through it, divorce could be this easy !

Subject: Best Divorce Letter
Dear Wife:
I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever. I've been a good man to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it.
These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today and that was the last straw.
Last week, you came home and didn't even notice that I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal and even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in two minutes, and went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me anymore; you don't want sex or anything that connects us as husband and wife.
Either you're chea ting on me or you don't love me anymore; whatever the case,
I'm gone.
Your EX-Husband
P.S. Don't try to find me. Your SISTER and I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dear Ex-Husband:
Nothing has made my day more complete than receiving your letter.
It's true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a good man is a far cry from what you've been.
I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining and griping. Too bad that it doesn't work.
I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the first thing that came to mind was 'You look just like a girl!' Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can't say something nice, I didn't comment.
And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago.
About those new silk boxers: I turned a way from you because the $49.99 price tag was
still on them, and I prayed that it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed fifty dollars from me that morning.
After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for ten million dollars, I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica . But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.
I hope you have the fulfilling life you have always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won't get a dime from me.
So take care.
Signed,
Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell and Free!
P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that's not a problem.

Our little bundle of joy is here !

Sorry for the long silence. Since my last post I have given birth to our third daughter.

On September 19,2008, I checked into the hospital to have my labor induced.
I had to be induced because I had stopped making progress in my labor. Every case is different but if you have ever been told that being induced hurts worse than regular labor, Believe it !
I had my last daughter with no drugs and it was not nearly as bad as it was this last time. At one point I thought my back was going to separate from the rest of my body. I started out strong, with no medicine, but when the contractions got stronger I had to have something. I ended up having 2 doses of pain medicine in my iv and an epidural. Six hours later, our baby girl was born, weighing in at 5lbs 14 oz.

Since the arrival of our new baby girl, I haven't had much time to crochet.I have been trying to catch up on housework while taking care of my three daughters and my wonderful husband. I don't know when exactly but I will try to post some pictures of my creations soon. Thanks for reading and until next time......... Happy Crocheting!

From Crochet to Knitting !

I finally finished the project I have been working on yesterday. I will be posting pictures of them at a later date. I still have to write a final copy of the patterns and then decide if I want to try and sell the patterns or just post them as free patterns. Since I am not working anymore , have a baby due in a couple of days, and my yarn stash is getting low, I may just offer them for a small fee so that I can buy more yarn.
Today I decided to pick up my knitting needles and try to make a pair of socks. I only have one sock made so far so we shall see what the finished product looks like after I get the other one complete. I am making a couple of pair of socks for a friend that is having a baby next month and a few pair for my baby which is due next weekend. Well I have to run to get the socks complete so that I can start on the bibs but until next time.....Happy Crocheting !

Getting Closer !

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and she said I dilated to a 3. So the baby will be making her arrival very soon. I am almost done packing my overnight bag so I am pretty sure I will be ready when the time comes.
I have been working on my project a little bit lately but with Hurricane Ike headed this way , I haven't really gotten much done. Besides, the stitch I am using is not a difficult stitch but it is one of those time consuming stitches, well for me anyway.
It has been raining here this morning so I will probably do alot of crocheting today.Well have to get the kids off to school.Until next time.....Happy Crocheting!

Busy, Busy, Busy !

I have been busy these last couple of days. I had to have another ultrasound to check on the baby and thank God everything looks good besides the fact that she is all legs! She is due the 27th of this month so I am trying to get everything ready before she gets here . I haven't even packed our overnight bag yet !
As for my crochet project I have been working on, I did finished making one piece of it and started the second piece but haven't been able to pick it up since.
I also have to make a final copy of my pattern from my rough drafts so that it is readable ,but I will probably do that after everything is made.
With the new baby coming soon, I don't think I will have time to crochet much, at least at the beginning.Until next time.....Happy Crocheting !

Still Working !

I am please to announce that my attempt to write my own pattern is going rather well so far. Of course I have taken alot of breaks to give my hands some rest but I think I have made alot of progress since I first started.
As of today, I am doing some research on working from home. I know alot of people don't believe in this but I find it necessary for me. I am not looking for some get rich quick scheme or home business, just something I can do in my spare time.
I really would like to make money crocheting but I have found out that many people don't realize the time it takes to make a handmade piece therefore they don't want to pay the asking price.
Well I am off to get back to work. Have a great day and as always.....Happy Crocheting !

Trying to write a pattern !

I have been busy today working on designing and writing my own pattern.I have been so busy that I seem to have given myself a nice headache.
The new design I am working on is something I have thought about trying once before but never got up the nerve to try it. It really isn't hard, just time consuming.I will be working on it the next couple of days and we will just have to see what becomes of it once it is finished. I also plan on making another one for my best friends' daughters' house warming gift. Taking it one day at a time I will get it finished. Until next time...Happy Crocheting !

First Day of school !

Today is the first day of school here. My day started at 5:30 a.m. I pulled myself out of bed to fix my husband some breakfast before he left for work before getting the kids up and ready for school. Getting them up was very easy because they woke up all smiles and ready for their first day of school.
After I got everyone off to their destinations , I returned home to my hot cup of coffee and my to do list. I completed all of my chores for today by 11 a.m. , I ate lunch and then layed down for a much needed nap.
You will notice I have a new gold button on the right side. That button is for the Crochet Games I participated in. I was able to finsh my projects in the alotted time slot. I had planned on making some place mats for my best friends' daughter for her house warming gift but I was notified to come up with something else so it is back to the drawing board .Well, have to run so I can prepare to finish off my day. Until next time....Happy Crocheting!

The day before school starts !

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday but we spent all day getting the girls ready for their first day of school. School starts tomorrow here and I didn't want to wait until the last minute to get them ready.
As for my birthday, I had a very nice day. I sat around and actually did nothing, well I did cook dinner but I didn't mind because my husband cooked breakfast for me that morning.
I have a crochet project lined up but haven't started on it yet. I hope to start working on it either today or tomorrow. It is a house warming gift for my best friends daughter who just moved into her on place.
Well...I have to get going so I can get my day started until next time.....Happy Crocheting!

Afghan Complete !

Yippee ! The afghan I have been working on is finally complete.
I have already found a nice home for it. My best friend says she likes it and would like to have it. I just have to decide if I am going to give it to her now or wait until Christmas. I am already thinking about what I can make next.Well I am off to make the fringes and will be back in a bit.
The picture above is the final project with fringes and all ends woven in. This was a personal challenge for me because (1) it usually takes me longer than a few weeks to complete a throw or afghan and (2) I do not like weaving in ends and with this pattern, you had to change colors every row so that meant I had alot of ends to weave in 202 to be exact. None the less I am glad I was able to accomplish my goal.
Until next time ..Happy Crocheting !

Update on Afghan

I didn't get to post yesterday because I was feeling a bit under the weather .I am feeling much better today and am busy working on my afghan. My birthday is Saturday so I hope to be done with it by Friday night.
I stopped to count my completed rows on my afghan and so far I have 86 rows and the pattern calls for 101 rows. I did seem to put a dent in my yarn stash working on this project. I really must learn how to only buy pretty colors and colors that I actually plan to use. I can't wait to go out and buy more yarn though !
We got some more rain today and it looks like it may rain some more later on.
I am going to return to my afghan now and as soon as I am done with it I will try to post a picture.Until tomorrow.....Happy Crocheting!

Another rainy day !

We central Texans are welcoming some more much needed rain today! Although it did not rain all day today,it did rain off and on and we are expecting another round to come in shortly. I love the rain because with this Texas heat it cools things off a bit. When it wasn't raining today, I sat outside and enjoyed the nice cool weather.
Today I also had my doctors appointment. I am 8 months pregnant and our baby is due Sept. 27,2008. My appointment went well although I have to have another ultrasound to check the baby's growth because the doctors says the baby is small, only about 3 lbs. I hope everything will come out well.
As for the afghan I am working on , I have made some progress on it and am trying to finish it tonight. I will have to wait until it gets dry here so that I can take a decent picture of it to post. With it being a raining night that may not be hard to accomplish. So I am off to finish crocheting with my cup of hot coffee.
Until next time .....Happy Crocheting!

Crochet Greek Games...Afghan

This is a picture of both sides.
This is another picture of the right side.

This is the afghan I am working on for the crochet greek games. The colors are off white, black, maroon, red, and brown. In the pictures I have completed 36 rows and the pattern consist of 101 rows. The idea is to use up the colors of yarn that I do have .....so that I can go out and buy more. The pattern comes out of Vanna White's 3 ring binder collection. To my knowledge the collection was stopped a long time ago but you may still be able to find this pattern on the net.The pattern is called Pastel Bands Afghan it is in the for baby section, card #4.

After I get permission I will post a link to her pattern. Until then...Happy Crocheting!
Update : I got permission from the designer and you can find her pattern here.

Grand total on squares.

Sorry for such a late update . I managed to make a grand total of 78 squares !

They were put in the mail on January 11,2008. A couple of days later to my suprise I recieved a thank you card in the mail from the lady in charge ! It really made me feel good that I could do something nice for someone else.

I am working on finally putting the finishing touches on the photos so I can post them here.
